We would like to invite you to join us in lighting a candle in remembrance of Kristen for her first birthday in heaven. Also if you would leave a birthday message or wish in her guestbook, as this is the only gift we can now give to her.
Fly be free our Angel. Happy Heavenly Birthday ! We love you!
Dad & Nonie light the cake. Happy 19th Birthday, Angel! Wishes to you KD! We Love You!
This blanket is give to you, KD for your 1st heavenly birthday. It was designed by Aunt Deb and Aunt Darla, and sent to you today. The Three Musketeers will always be together, in heart and soul!
This poem was written by my "Sister Mom" Ann Gay, Wayne's Mom. Ann is also suffering the loss of an angel, her most precious Wayne. Our Angels flying away from pain, watching over us throughout the days and nites.
Our daughter, Kristen – so wonderful and bright
Her free spirit ways and endless creativity
Produced laughter and smiles for so many to see
Her absence left emptiness deep inside our souls
Our hearts ripped apart and never again whole
Her birthday approaches, but how can we celebrate
The tears fall nonstop as we wrestle her chosen fate
Energetic in every part of her young life
Our daughter, Kristen, was known for being heard
And would not hesitate to have the very last word
Loving, caring and fun - are words we often hear
When others needed help, Kristen was always near
Her strong will and desire, to be who she wanted to be
Sometimes veiled her generous sensitivity
Our daughter, Kristen – touched so many hearts
Now approaching her birthday, we are torn apart
Our minds full of sadness, memories and her love
For our angel Kristen, who watches from above
Our daughter, Kristen – captured us right away
Born 19 years ago in November, on the 28th day
Now we grieve our loss and the love she left behind
As we travel through the pain, and waiting for a sign
Kristen our dear angel, and our daughter above
We send you birthday wishes, with all of our love
We miss you in ways, that we never knew
And wait for the day we’ll be together again with you!
Happy Birthday Kristen!

Dear Kristen...Happy 19th birthday! I felt your presence today as I wrote a birthday poem for you...and I know that you are with my son, Wayne. I could almost see both of you smiling and laughing together.
Your beautiful heart and soul is missed so deeply by your sweet Mom. Watch over her, dear Kristen...for she needs to know you're there!
With love..Ann (Wayne's Mom)

Hey, birthday girl. I\'m home from college! I love it though, so I\'m doing fine. I\'m gonna make you proud. I\'m determined now, just like you always were.
Thanksgiving was yummy. I miss you so much. But you know what? Instead of tears I\'m promoting smiles today. You\'re 19! I love you baby girl.
Love,
~Your Big Brother

\"Happy Heavenly Birthday Kristen!\" A candle is lit in your loving memory and the flame is burning is so brightly, just like the place in our hearts where you will go on forever. You have touched so many people during your lifetime, and are continuing to do the same. Continue to guide those who are falling off the pathway and give them the courage and strength to carry on. We loved you on earth, even though sometimes we didn\'t tell you often enough, and we love you even more now. Be our guiding light and shining star, for your are with us wherever we are. Thanks for coming around every now and then and letting us know you are here. Thanks for being Darrek\'s \"Guardian Angel\".
A special birthday present was sent to your Mom & Dad from Aunt Darla, me, Darrek and Erika in your memory. We hope it brings them comfort in their time of need. The Three Musketeers live on forever!
Darrek wants to tell you \"Happy Birthday\" too, but he\'ll do it in his own special way.
Enjoy your birthday,

Happy Birthday Kristen,
I know you are spending your birthday
with God.
So I\'m lighting a candle in your honor.
My love, Aunt Kay
The first of Kristen's birthday balloons to come home was found in Granville, Illinois by the Bennett family. I would like to share with you the very special letter that was returned to our family:
December 15, 2004
Dear Friend,
On December 5, 2004 when my daughter, Donna and I were returning from shopping, I had notice something red by the bottom of the stairs under our deck. I asked my daughter to get it so I could throw it away. She picked it up and found the card on it and showed it to me. Unfortunately, the balloon was put aside. With it being a busy time of year, we kept walking by it but knowing that it needed to be sent back to the family. I am however now returning the special balloon to you.
I am sure that we were to find this special balloon. My husband had indicated to me that he had noticed the balloon blowing around our yard in the afternoon. It’s amazing how it just stayed in our yard all day. Somehow it made it under our deck and by the stairs where we walk up. We would never had seen it if it would have just stayed under the deck.
My daughter is 10 years old. She was born at 24 weeks and weighed 1 pound, 9 ounces and was 12 inches long. She stayed in the hospital for 3 ½ months. We knew we were blessed and she has always had an angel by her. She is now a healthy 10 years old. She is our miracle and I feel that Kristen is now Donna’s new angel.
My name is Terrie, I am Donna’s mom. I was born on November 28, 1957 on Thanksgiving Day, 47 years ago. It is truly a miracle that your balloon has made it into our lives. It has touched all of us.
We had such a hard time finding an angel to stand in memory of KD, but did find one at a little shop down on Main Street. When walking into the shop that cold December day 2003, the music was playing Carley Simon's The Night Before Christmas. This was a song that Kristen has playing in the background at one of her plays in school. We both knew at that time that this is the right angel. The little girl is holding up her dress for the animals to get a drink along with a little bird watching over. The flowers are blooming in her butterfly bush, along with many beautiful butterflys.
