5 Fingers, 5 Toes, No Hose!

9 months had past and the Tonka Trucks sat waiting in the nursery for the arrival of baby "Stephen". Daddy in the waiting room could not watch me in any more pain, so he went to wait with Aunt Darla and Nonie. It was the night before Thanksgiving the worst ice/snow storm of the year and we were waiting for the greatly anticipated arrival of our first child our baby boy....... what, it is a girl? Jerry was not sure what to do with a new baby let alone a baby girl.  While he made the phone calls from the hospital to inform family and friends, his response was " 5 fingers, 5 toes, No Hose!. Our newest addition our little angel was named by her daddy as he said "It will be me and Kristy Lea". Well, Kristy never stuck with Kristen as she thought her name was Bugs for many years and it wasn't until her teenage years when "KD" stuck with her.  The love of her daddy's life, the apple in his eye, two peas in a pod and never very far apart.  This was the  beginning of love, laughter and togetherness.

After a long hard day at work Daddy would come home to his girls and it would be his time for baby, well nap time that is.  Kristen & Daddy would take their evening nap together every night while Mommy did cleaning and laundry.

WHAT DOES YOUR DADDY DO?

"He loves, he really likes to squirt me when it is hot.  He really likes to get my pool out, he was going to do it today. he lets me go down to Megan's house. He pushed me on the swing. He does alot of things with me, you know that! He squirts off my things that have bird poop on it. He squirts water on my head like a little shower."

Kristen was in daycare "Miss Judy's class when they made a book for father's day. Above is what Kristen had to say about her daddy.

   We took a trip in the fall to the Dunes in Indiana and had a wonderful time.  KD got to feed the animals at the petting zoo, ride the 4 wheel dirt bikes, swim and play.  It was great family fun time.

  KD and her Dad always loved nap time. Never a day would go by when she would not lay down after a hard play day.  Either at daycare, or a day with Mom or Dad she would cuddle up in a chair or couch for a little snooze to get a bit more energy.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Halloween was KD and Dad's favorite holiday.  At daycare they did not have Halloween, but had Harvest Feast Days, so when at home KD looked forward to dressing up as  a which, or a devil (those where her favorite) and she loved the pumpkin carving, the messier the better.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Oh no it is time to take the training wheels off the bike and ride like the big kids.  This was a day that the whole neighborhood will never forget.  Kristen was so excited about being a "Big Girl", and Daddy took only one wheel off the bike, she was so excited, ready to go, and then the bike tipped over!!!!! That was it... she was finished!!! She stomped her feet and ran in the house and never wanted to ride "that STUPID" bike ever again... but she did and it only took a few trys and she rode like a pro...was it worth the tears???? Well Mommy got the hugs and Daddy got the yelling!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Summer of 1991 was full of excitement as was every summer.  KD and Dad took on the challenge of climbing to the top of ship at Cedar Point, one of their favorite places to hang out.. Mom on the other hand, well as you can see, I'm below watching!

"1994"  Kristen and her Dad use to watch Ren & Stimpy and just would laugh at the silliness.  This is a picture that she drew for her Daddy.

Always dressing up something silly, and today it just so happen to be her Daddy's turn.

KD baked a cake and even gives a birthday kisses to her favorite Dad!!!

My angels, just what were they up to?  Well you could never tell when it came to them being together?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

After a hard day playing soccer, Dad & KD both have to take a little nap.

Who will get sick first?  Dad, or KD, my guess is DAD!!!

There were not may days when we would not find KD & Dad in the pool. The pool would be open starting in April and not close until after the snow started to fly in November.

You would think that our dog Rocko being a lab would love the water, wrong!!! Rocko had his life jacket and had to be helped into the pool.  This was my floating chair, and KD & Dad thought it was a great way to cool off the dog, in my chair!

 

 

After moving to Illinois in 2000 it was an ongoing joke that we were the Douglas's on Green Acres!  Kristen and Jer would laugh everytime they would ride the tractor, and would even argue as to who's turn it was to ride!
